I have been a smoker for 12
I have been a smoker for 12 years and have tried off and on to quit. I have heard that there are certain herbs that will reduce cravings. True?
Several herbs have been used
Several herbs have been used to help deal with some of the withdrawal symptoms from quitting smoking. These include lobelia, St. John’s wort, black cohosh, blue vervain, hyssop and catnip. These herbs tend to have a calming effect on the nervous system. Generally these herbs are used in teas, but some, like St. John’s wort, may be ingested. You never want to smoke these herbs like you do a traditional cigarette.
If you’d like to try using an herbal therapy, contact your doctor and an herbalist or naturopath. It is imperative that you clear any use of herbs with your medical professional because herbs can interact with certain prescription medication. Also, herbs can have side effects just like drugs, so tell your doctor about any new or changing symptoms you are experiencing.
