what are other ways to stop smoking without medications and nicotine gum and patches ?

There more natural methods that some people have done but I have to say I do not know how effective they are. Drink lots of water, keep yourself busy with exercise. Here are home remedies to quit smoking.

The drugs that are out to help people quit come with some unwanted side effects, including but not limited to headache, dry mouth, nausea and even irregular heartbeat. While the herbs suggested above may have some benefit, they should not be considered a safe alternative to nicotine replacement drugs. If you are using drugs or herbs, it is essential that you clear them with your doctor, especially since some herbs can interact with any prescriptions you are taking. Also, if choose to try the herbs or drugs, be watchful for changing symptoms, and report these symptoms immediately to your doctor. Some symptoms, such as swelling, hives or difficulty breathing, could be a sign of allergy, which is very serious and require a hospital trip.

One of the best ways to quit is to create a multi-faceted plan with the help of your doctor attacking the emotional, physical and social reasons why you smoke. Emotional support, such as support groups, is helpful for some, as are smoking cessation programs. These are available through your local department of health, or you can find online programs from the American Lung Association at www.lungusa.org.

Electronic cigarettes are becoming more widely available and may seem like miracle of science to some, but they are hardly a miracle cure. They are potentially toxic and, of course, are still loaded with nicotine.
