Set A “Quit Date”

When you are starting out on the process of quitting it can be hard, it can be painful, and let’s face it, it definitely be brutal. But maybe having something permanent within all the madness is something that you need. A certain stability that, when everything else goes crazy, you can depend on it. Try setting a “quit date”. When you set a date to quit it is like you have established order among the chaos. When you question yourself or maybe even doubt yourself, take a look at the date that you have set and remember that this is a choice for the greater good. The date can be any day, but it would be extra special if that date was for something else as well. Maybe the date could be your daughters graduation, or a wedding. The date can even symbolize an anniversary as well. Whatever the date it, make sure it is also realistic.

I am on the road to quitting and haven't yet set a quit date. Thanks for your post, as I agree that doing so "establishes order among the chaos." Don't know if I agree that it should be on an anniversary, wedding etc. however, since such events tend to be stressful for some :~)

After reading your post, I will NOW set a quit date ~ again, thanks.
