Everyday Activities can Kill the Urge to Smoke

Although there are lots of activities designed by psychologists and doctors to divert the smoker’s attention, there are a variety of everyday activities which can also help kill the urge to smoke.

Daily brushing of the teeth with mint toothpaste, brushing of the hair and the body when taking a bath is a good practice when quitting smoking. Brushing of the teeth gets rid of the aftertaste of cigarettes. Brushing the hair and the body is said to improve circulation. When circulation is improved, elimination of toxins from the body is also speeded up.

Chewing on gum and munching on celery and carrot sticks will also do the trick. Be sure that it is sugarless gum to avoid increasing sugar intake. Since getting fat is one of the common side effects of smoking withdrawals, celery and carrot sticks are good food choices which can divert you to reach for carbohydrate-based and high sugar foods.
