Who Would You Stop Smoking for?

In many cases we smokers are at a loss to find a good enough reason to quit. While the economy struggles and cigarettes are more expensive than they used to be, saving money is not a convincing motivator for some of us. Besides, you can always find a less expensive way to continue the addiction. Most of the time we need to put someone not something in place of the addiction in order to be motivated enough to quit.

Who should that someone be? Many women, and even men, try to quit smoking when they find out they are going to be parents. Having a baby is of course a big responsibility and setting a good parental example is important. Being pregnant and having a new baby is extremely stressful for both mom and dad, but with support from friends, family and your physician you can quit for your baby.

You can quit for your child, but the best person to stop smoking for is you. Make a list of the reasons to smoke and the reasons to stop. You will certainly have a lopsided list in front of you. Post the reasons to stop smoking in your favorite smoking retreats to remind you that you are worth the effort to quit.
