Breaking Up is Hard to Do

Your relationship with your cigarettes is like an abusive spouse. People on the outside wonder why you are still with the smokes when it’s obviously destroying you. You see being without them worse than being with them. You feel trapped in a bad situation because you’ve been with them so long you can’t even imagine dealing with certain situations without them.

The fact is you need to leave the smokes in order to save your life. Smoking, like a violent tempered spouse, may eventually kill you. You know this already, it even says it clearly on the warning label of every pack. You see the signs, you’re out of breath walking up a flight of stairs, your heart seems to pound, your hands and feet are cold from the lack of circulation.

Will breaking up with your cigarettes be easy? No. You’ve learned to depend on them for comfort, companionship and relaxation. To kick this guy to the curb, you’ll need to replace the smokes as your go to person with something else, pretzel sticks, a walk, a good book or a phone call to a close friend. Will it be the same as the time you spent with the cigarettes? No, it will be better.

Now is the time to gather up the courage to tell the cigarettes you can no longer spend any more of your life with them. This destructive relationship has to end, starting right now.
